Located at the old entrance to the town, where the cavalry troops and horses used to stop for water on their way to Adra and the coast, this fountain is one of the most monumental structures among the more than 30 fountains that are located in Berja.
It was built by the consistory between 1791 and 1794 with the enlightened desire to create a public water supply for the different neighborhoods.
The name of the fountain comes from a rich family who built their house next to it. In Goya Street we can admire the Baroque farmhouses of the 18th century, adorned with their blazons on the main door, as well as the neo-classical palace houses of the 19th century.
