The public fountain of the Calvary has been for decades a meeting point of the inhabitants of the town of Cuevas del Almanzora.
Every day of the week, this fountain was occupied by the residents of the place, who were assigned with prior payment. The price assigned at that time was five peseta cents for each battery.
Every day, the water from the fountain was auctioned at 12 in the morning for the agricultural payments of the surroundings. This could reach 300 pesetas.
