This is located in the valley formed by Sierra Alhamilla and Sierra de Gador, in a natural environment ideal for rural tourism, hiking, and mountain biking. Its mountainous paths, lined with almond and olive groves, offer spectacular views.

This small village was built on the bed of a river and still preserves the traditional structure of the Moorish settlements of the time. In fact, the name “Castro” comes from the word “camp”.

Close to Castro de Filabres is the Calar Alto Observatory, which is the largest astronomical observatory on the European continent. It is located on a plateau 2,168 meters high in the Sierra de los Filabres.

Diverse monuments and old religious constructions of the Moorish time located in its historical centre constitute sites of interest for the visitor. Likewise, the Interpretation Centre of Traditional Architecture is a must.
