Holy Week of Huercal-Overa

The Holy Week of Huercal-Overa has been declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest due to its remarkable processions that remember the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ. Tourists from all over the world meet every year to enjoy this unique event in the province of Almeria.

For decades, the local parishioners have put all their efforts into the celebration of Holy Week. Renowned image makers of the Andalusian and Murcian schools have created exceptional displays that accompany each procession, together with exquisite silk and gold embroidered creations that become more majestic each year.

Three fraternities stand out: "The Whites", "The Blacks" and "The Moraos", who are responsible for illuminating the streets with their processions. The meetings on Holy Wednesday, Holy Thursday and Good Friday are particularly impressive.
