Routes & Trails in Huercal-Overa

One of the outstanding trails in Huercal-Overa is the Huercal La Vieja Trail. It is a linear path that requires about 5 hours to travel. During the tour, you will cross “El Barranco de La Bordaera” and climb through the “Senda del Magro”. In the “Alto de La Rábita”, you will see rocks such as gypsum with sandstones that gave rise to the mountains.  Advancing along the route in “Peña Rubia”, you will see limestone stones, which are characteristic rocks of the geographical reliefs known as dolinas. Then you will pass through the “Paraje de Las Negras” and “La Fuente del Lentiscal”.

Another mountainous trail of short duration is the La Sierrica Trail. You can also take the Alto de La Rabita Trail as another short-term option. The latter is almost entirely on concrete pavement or sidewalk and can take around 3 to 4 hours to cover. You will cross the “Rambla del Saltador” and, following the path, will encounter a picnic area where you can regain strength before your return.
