Vicar is a municipality that is characterized by large areas where intensive agriculture is developed in greenhouses, as well as for its sub-desert climate with little rain.

Its history goes back to prehistory, to the Bronze Age. It was occupied by the Romans in the Ancient Age, by the Arabs in the Middle Ages and by the Christians in the Modern Age, while at present it has remained standing, protecting the tradition of its ancestors.

The municipality has unique modern buildings, but also has traditional monuments and different archaeological remains. Vicar is divided into 13 population centres.
