The Saint Michael Church began the construction in 1797, by the architect Juan Antonio Murar, in a neoclassical style with a rectangular plan and a bell tower.
At that time Pulpi belonged to the municipality of
Vera, and its construction was completed in the year 1810. This temple has been restored several times: in 1879 after suffering a fire; in 1966 after suffering another fire that destroyed the altarpiece, and the last restoration that was in 2009.
The main square where the church is located is the venue for numerous performances and celebrations in the town of Pulpi, such as the songs to the saints during Holy Week, the Christmas celebration with chimes and the church clock, and celebrations of Christmas and medieval markets.
