It was built under the command of Charles III during the second half of the 18th century, as a defensive structure to prevent the attacks of the Maghreb pirates. In the year 1743, English warship cannons demolished the castle tower, but it was repaired about two years later.
This monument is cataloged as an Asset of Cultural Interest. At present, entrance is free and there you can enjoy 5 rooms: reception and information, network of protected natural spaces of Andalusia, history and ethnology of Pulpi, ecosystem of the area, and the last room, where you can enjoy the geology of the town.
