The hills in the municipality of Oria are located in the Sierra de las Estancias, and occupy an area of 235 km², on which crops of olive trees, almonds, and cereals are grown. It enjoys an established rural character and its inhabitants live with an attachment to the traditions that give the area its identity. Archaeological remains have been found that show the existence of Muslim mosques, as well as Iberian, Christian, and Visigoth sanctuaries. The origins of Oria date as far back as 3,000 BC, so its history and tradition are very rich and have passed through different periods since prehistory, of which there is evidence in its various ruins and sites.

Its main productive activity is agriculture, and its most important crops are legumes, cereals and olive trees. As for livestock, the breeding of goats and sheep stands out in the place. In its natural surroundings, which are of great beauty, you can go hiking and mountain biking on its varied rural routes. Several monuments and old buildings are located both in its historic centre and in the surroundings of the town. Some of them have been declared Assets of Cultural Interest, such as the Basilica of Our Lady of Mercy, built in the 18th century.
