Spanish Civil War trenches (Huercal-Overa)

One of the most visited sites in Huercal-Overa are the trenches of the Spanish Civil War. The City Council has worked hard to recover and protect these spaces, which are part of Spanish history and a reminder of the painful and harsh process of Civil War that took place in Spain.

It consists of around 8 trenches, located in the surroundings of the Castle of Huercal-Overa, where visitors can not only perceive the harshness of the war and imagine the conditions in which the troops guarded or waited for the enemies, but also enjoy a beautiful landscape.

The installation of posters here allows for the reporting of characteristics in terms of dimensions and materials used to build the structure, while photographs provide evidence of the “before and after” of the trenches.
