Located in the Sierra de las Estancias, Lucar offers a natural wealth that is observed in all the water springs that cross its surface of 95 km². The municipality keeps many traditions in its streets and houses that refuse to fade. Like its neighbors in the region, the territory served as a settlement for prehistoric civilizations attracted to the natural wealth of its landscapes. Romans, Muslims and Christians have added to the history of this municipality surrounded by vegetation.

As part of Lucar's natural heritage, there is the Piedra Lobera Natural Monument, a huge limestone rock with steep walls, nestled in the Sierra de Lucar. It was declared a Natural Monument of Andalusia in 2001. According to tradition, the last Iberian wolves, a species now extinct, were hidden there. Throughout the year there are several traditional and picturesque festivals of great tourist interest. The Lucar Viewpoint and the Balsa de Cela are two of the main tourist attractions in Lucar. They are must-see places for the traveller.

For those who like to practice hiking, in this town you can visit the Minas del Talco Path, which runs from Lucar to Somontin, and appreciate the remains of the mines along it. Although mining was an important economic activity in the region, most of the mines are abandoned. Now, agriculture, mainly the cultivation of olive and almond trees, is its main livelihood, along with rural tourism.
