Albanchez is a municipality with an area of 35 km², which is located in the north of the Sierra de los Filabres and west of the Sierra de Damian. Its rugged terrain is surrounded by vegetation, represented mainly by thyme, hawthorn and esparto crops.
Its history highlights the conquest made by the Christian troops of Murcia in 1436, as well as the repopulation actions that were carried out later by the Catholic Monarchs. Traditionally, its inhabitants have dedicated themselves to agriculture, as well as to industrial activities related to marble.
Albanchez has all the characteristics of a typical Spanish rural town, being quiet and peaceful. Its traditional white houses, its cobbled, narrow and steep streets and its historic centre give it its particular stamp. Religious buildings, monuments and old rural buildings are some of the places of interest that can be visited in the surroundings of this town. Its popular festivities, mostly religious, as in all the towns in the region, provide the opportunity to learn about their customs and the richness of their cultural heritage.
